Bronze with horse turning its head

The Ambiani occupied the territory around modern Amiens in what is now northern France, and were among the tribes Julius Caesar described by name in his Gallic Wars commentaries — their lands became a primary theater of Roman military operations between 58 and 51 BC. Bronze issues of this type circulated precisely as Roman legions were dismantling tribal political structures across the region, which likely disrupted whatever mint organization the Ambiani maintained.

DT#416 is documented in Delestrée and Tache's *Nouvel Atlas des Monnaies Gauloises*, the primary typological reference for northern Gaulish bronzes.
