正面描述 Draped bust of Artemis facing right, wearing a quiver over the shoulder, rendered in the Hellenistic provincial style characteristic of southern Gaulish coinage. The hair is tied and partially covered, with fine die-cut facial features visible in relief. The abbreviated legend 'AR' appears in the right field, likely referencing the tribal or divine epithet. The coin's border consists of a dotted beaded circle framing the central motif.

附加信息

The Volcae Arecomici occupied the region around Nemausus — modern Nîmes — and struck bronze small change during a period of deepening Roman administrative pressure in Gallia Narbonensis, formally organized as a province in 118 BC. Their coinage reflects a tribe navigating accommodation with Rome rather than resisting it; Nemausus itself would soon become a Roman colony, rendering indigenous issues like this one obsolete within a generation.
