| Obverse description | Two confronted wolves facing one another in the center of the field, their bodies rendered in schematic, abstracted Celtic style. The animals are depicted symmetrically, heads meeting at the center, with details of musculature and limbs suggested through bold, stylized relief. The flan surface is irregular and shows characteristic patination of cast Gaulish bronze coinage. No legend or inscription is present. |

The Ambiani occupied the region around modern Amiens in northern Gaul and were among the tribes Julius Caesar encountered during his campaigns of 57 BC, when he records their submission alongside other Belgic peoples in the second book of the Gallic Wars. Bronze issues of this type circulated during and after that period of Roman military pressure, when tribal coinage production was contracting across much of Belgica.
DT#481 is a well-documented type within Delestrée and Tache's corpus, but individual die linkages within the Ambiani bronze series remain incompletely studied.
