Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in the Gallo-Celtic artistic tradition with schematised features. The hair is depicted in fine parallel striated lines swept back from the brow, falling in sinuous wavy locks to the neck. The facial modelling is bold and summarily executed, characteristic of late Iron Age Celtic coinage from southern Gaul. The field is plain, with no legend or inscription.

Additional information

The Volcae Arecomici were a Gaulish people settled around Nemausus — modern Nîmes — whose bronze small change circulated through a region increasingly under Roman pressure following the establishment of Gallia Narbonensis around 121 BC. The NAMA SAT inscription remains only partially interpreted; "sat" may derive from a Gaulish root, but no consensus reading exists, and catalog entries that claim otherwise are overreaching.

LT 2698 is among the more frequently encountered Arecomici bronzes, suggesting sustained local production across several decades rather than a single issue.
