正面描述 Stylized Celtic male head facing left, rendered in the characteristic La Tène artistic tradition. The hair is depicted as a series of voluminous, swirling curls or pellets arranged in decorative rows filling the right field. The facial features, including a pronounced nose and defined chin, are rendered in a schematic yet expressive Celtic idiom. The flan is irregular in outline, typical of hand-struck Gaulish bronze coinage of this period.

附加信息

The Arverni occupied the volcanic uplands of what is now Auvergne, and their coinage reflects a tribe that had once dominated much of central Gaul. A century before this issue, the Arverni king Bituitus commanded a coalition force reportedly numbering in the hundreds of thousands against Rome, only to be defeated at the Rhône in 121 BC — after which Roman pressure steadily eroded Arvernian dominance. By the time Caesar arrived, the tribe was rebuilding influence under Vercingetorix, whose 52 BC rebellion effectively closes the dating window on this type.
