| Obverse description | Bridled horse's head in left profile, rendered in bold relief characteristic of the bracteate tradition, centrally positioned within a raised inner ring. The bridle and reins are depicted with notable detail, lending a naturalistic quality to the equine effigy. The design is enclosed by a broad, slightly raised outer border, with a beaded inner rim framing the central motif. The flan is irregular and thin, consistent with the uniface hammered bracteate technique of the 13th-century Austrian minting tradition. No legend or inscription appears on the coin. |

Ottokar II of Bohemia controlled Carinthia from 1269 until his defeat and death at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278, and these thin-flan bracteates were struck at Landstraß — modern-day Kostanjevica na Krki in Slovenia — during the middle years of that occupation. The Landstraß mint was a relatively minor operation, which accounts for the modest surviving population of this type.
