Beschrijving voorzijde Uniface bracteate struck in thin silver sheet, displaying a stylized panther passant in high relief at center, its body rendered in a bold, archaic heraldic manner. A small turret or tower motif appears to the right of the panther, serving as a mint or civic symbol. Two annulet or ringed crests flank the outer field, framing the central device. The entire composition is enclosed within a raised double linear border, characteristic of Carinthian bracteate coinage of the period. The design is executed in the robust, somewhat naive style typical of 13th-century Central European hammered bracteates.

Aanvullende informatie

Ottokar II of Bohemia held Carinthia and Carniola from 1269 following the extinction of the Spanheim line, issuing regional bracteates as part of his broader effort to consolidate control over the southeastern Alpine duchies. His reign over Carinthia ended abruptly with his defeat and death at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278, though this Völkermarkt type was already obsolete by then — the attribution to "successors" reflects a minting window that likely closed before Rudolf of Habsburg formally assumed control of the duchy in 1276.
