A single-headed eagle displayed facing right with a smooth, uncrested head occupies the central field, its wings spread in heraldic fashion. The eagle holds a shield bearing the arms of the Bishopric of Utrecht. The design is executed in low relief characteristic of hammered bracteate coinage of the early sixteenth-century Low Countries, with no surrounding legend. |
