| Beschrijving voorzijde | Single-sided bracteate type struck in thin copper sheet, bearing a single-headed eagle displayed with wings spread, the feathers rendered in a distinctive decorative manner with multiple thin horizontal and vertical striations forming a cross-hatched or grid pattern across both wings. The eagle's head faces to the right. The overall design, characteristic of late medieval Low Countries bracteate coinage, is executed in low relief with the image mirrored as an incuse impression on the reverse, as is typical of the bracteate technique. The flan is irregular and partially fragmentary, consistent with its hammered manufacture and age. |
