Casa Scânteii — "House of the Spark," named after the Soviet Communist Party newspaper Iskra — was the sprawling Stalinist press complex built in Bucharest beginning in 1950, modeled directly on the Moscow State University tower. These bons were internal scrip issued to workers on the construction site, a practice common across Eastern Bloc mega-projects where wages were partially settled in token currency redeemable only at the project's own canteen and supply stores.
The timing places this note at the very earliest phase of construction, before the building was formally completed in 1956. Surviving examples are rarely documented in Western collections.
