| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the quartered arms of the Lordship of Haldenstein, surmounted by a crenellated tower and displaying horizontal barry fess divisions characteristic of the von Salis family heraldry. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. A circular Latin legend surrounds the field, reading IVLIVS·OTTO·L·B·AB·EHRE·D·I·H, identifying the issuing lord Julius Otto. The coin is struck on a slightly irregular flan typical of hammered billon issues of the period. |

| Reverse description | Central device depicting a standing or walking bear to the left within a beaded inner circle, representing the heraldic emblem associated with the Haldenstein territory. The bear is rendered in a crude but characteristic style typical of small hammered billon coinage of the early seventeenth century. Surrounding the inner circle, the Latin legend MON·NOVA·HALDENSTA appears, abbreviated for 'Moneta Nova Haldenstain', denoting this as a new coinage of Haldenstein. |
