Obverse description Central design features a Gothic castle with three towers set within a four-lobed quatrefoil frame, the towers rendered in fine relief with crenellated battlements and an arched gateway visible at the base. The castle is flanked by small lion passant guardant devices in the lateral lobes of the quatrefoil. A beaded inner border encloses the central device, with the circular Latin legend surrounding the entire composition within a beaded outer border. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval Castilian hammered coinage.
