| Beschrijving voorzijde | A gothic castle of three towers enclosed within a lozenge (diamond-shaped) frame, the central tower taller and crenellated, set in the field of a roughly circular flan. The castle motif, emblem of the Kingdom of Castile, is rendered in a bold, if somewhat crude, hammered style typical of late medieval Castilian billon coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, partially legible owing to the irregular flan. The entire composition is framed by a beaded or rope inner border. |
