| Reverse description | A rampant lion, representing the arms of León, depicted within a six-lobed inner circle formed by a double line border, shown in profile facing left in the conventional Gothic heraldic manner. The lion's mane and raised forepaw are rendered in the stylized fashion typical of hammered Castilian coinage of the mid-fifteenth century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner field, reading ENRICVS QVARTVS DEI GRA, identifying the issuing monarch as Enrique IV by the grace of God. The strike is characteristically irregular, with weak areas consistent with hand-hammered production. |
