Aanvullende informatie

Enrique III earned the epithet "el Doliente" — the Sickly — for good reason; he suffered chronic illness throughout his short reign and died at 27. His monetary reforms nonetheless addressed a genuine crisis: his father Juan I had debased Castilian coinage so aggressively that public confidence in billon had largely collapsed by the 1390s. The blancas issued from Seville under Enrique attempted to restore a credible fiduciary circulation, though the mint at Seville remained one of the more prolific and consequently less tightly controlled of the Castilian operations.

AB#602 specimens frequently show weak peripheral detail owing to the chronic die-alignment inconsistencies at the Seville facility.
