| Obverse description | Central device depicting a turreted Gothic castle with three towers, the central tower being the tallest, set within a six-lobed cusped inner frame. A small star or annulet appears below the castle in the lower lobe of the frame. The surrounding field bears a circular Latin legend separated from the central frame by a beaded inner border. The coin exhibits the characteristically irregular flan and bold relief typical of hammered medieval Castilian billon coinage. |
