Obverse description Central field bears a large Gothic letter I, crowned, flanked on either side by an ermine passant, the heraldic symbol of Brittany. The composition is contained within a plain inner circle, with a circular Latin legend running along the outer margin of the flan. The style is characteristic of late 14th-century Breton hammered coinage, with bold relief and irregular planchet edges.
