Obverse description Three fleurs-de-lis arranged in trefoil formation within a cusped trilobe or polylobed inner circle, surmounted by a small crown at the apex. The trilobe is formed by three interlocking arcs, each enclosing one fleur-de-lis. A beaded inner border frames the central device, with the royal legend LVDOVICVS FRANCORV REX (Louis, King of France) running in the outer field in Gothic uncial lettering, separated by stops.

Reverse description A long cross pattée centered within a cusped quadrilobe or four-lobed inner circle, the arms of the cross extending to the lobes. A beaded inner border surrounds the quadrilobe. The devotional legend SIT NOMEN DNI BENEDICTV (Blessed be the name of the Lord) is inscribed in the outer field in Gothic uncial lettering, separated by stops, running around the circumference of the coin.
