Obverse description Central field displays a crowned heraldic shield of Béarn surmounted by a royal crown, with the arms of the lordship rendered in low relief in the characteristic hammered style of the period. The crowned escutcheon is set within a plain inner circle. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, reading +HEnRICVS:D:G:DnS:B:, identifying Henry I of Albret as lord of Béarn by the grace of God. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-struck production at the Morlaàs mint.
