Reverse description An astragalos (knucklebone) depicted in relief at center of a raised disk, shown in characteristic blocky form with rounded lateral protuberances and a central body, conveying the natural asymmetry of the object. A mark of value appears to the left or right of the astragalos in the field. The design is cast in the crude but vigorous style characteristic of Lucerian aes grave coinage of the late 3rd century BC.
