Obverse description The obverse features the coat of arms of Trujillo in high relief at center right, depicting a rooster perched atop a heraldic shield with horizontal bands and two columns, surrounded by spread wings. To the left of the arms, the dates '1820' and '2020' appear in bold relief alongside the inscription 'BICENTENARIO INDEPENDENCIA DE LA INTENDENCIA DE TRUJILLO'. A circular legend reading 'ASOCIACIÓN NUMISMÁTICA Y FILATÉLICA DEL NORTE' runs along the outer border.

Reverse description The reverse presents two busts in relief: a smaller bust of José de San Martín in the upper left field and a larger bust of José Bernardo de Tagle at center right, both identified by small inscriptions. Between the busts, a decorative Gothic-script legend in the field reads 'El Perú le debe su Independencia a Trujillo'. A circular legend along the upper border reads 'DESDE ESTE MOMENTO Y POR LA VOLUNTAD UNÁNIME DEL PUEBLO, TRUJILLO ES LIBRE', and the date '29 - 12 - 1820' appears in the lower exergue.
