Reverse description The Lion of Saint Mark passant to the left occupies the central field, depicted in a schematic, medieval style characteristic of hammered Venetian small coinage. The lion appears with its head turned forward and body in profile, set within a roughly circular flan. A partial Latin legend surrounds the figure, invoking the Venetian motto referencing divine victory. The reverse bears the hallmarks of hand-struck production, with some weakness and irregularity in the strike consistent with mid-sixteenth-century Venetian mint practice.
