Reverse description The winged Lion of St. Mark passant to the left, rendered in the archaic Venetian style with wings raised and body in profile, occupying the central field of the coin. The surrounding legend in Latin capitals identifies Saint Mark as patron of Venice. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, consistent with hammered coinage of the period, and the relief is low and somewhat worn.
