| 背面描述 | The Lion of Saint Mark depicted passant to the left, with wings raised, set within the field. A divided Latin legend surrounds the type, reading IN. HOC. S. - VINCIT, referencing the traditional Venetian motto of divine victory. The strike is typical of the small hammered silver issues of the Venetian mint, with a somewhat irregular flan and flat areas consistent with the series. |

The bezzo was Venice's answer to a persistent small-change problem — the gap between the copper piccolo and the silver soldino left everyday transactions awkward, and this denomination was introduced to fill it. The type I classification reflects the earliest emission under Doge Lorenzo Priuli, whose eight-year tenure from 1556 saw a modest reform of the fractional silver coinage.
At 0.28 g, these were struck on flans so small that die alignment was almost impossible to control consistently, and off-center strikes are the rule rather than the exception.
