| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field bears a two-line abbreviated Arabic inscription reading 'One God,' enclosed within an inner circular legend reading '+: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.' An outer circular Arabic legend records the mint, date, and occasion: 'Struck in Acre in the year one thousand two hundred, one and ... from the incarnation of the Messiah.' The script is rendered in the Kufic-influenced style characteristic of Crusader imitative bezants, deliberately echoing the appearance of Fatimid and Ayyubid gold coinage. The overall design is contained within concentric circular frames typical of the Saracen bezant series. |
