Obverse description Facing bust of Christ Pantokrator enthroned, depicted in Byzantine style, with a nimbus cross behind the head. Christ is shown in half-figure or full seated pose, raising his right hand in benediction and holding the Gospels in his left hand. The design is rendered in high relief with bold linear drapery folds characteristic of 13th-century Crusader coinage. A beaded inner border frames the central figure, with a further beaded outer border encircling the coin. The initials IC XC, the traditional Greek Christogram, appear divided in the fields to either side of the figure.
