Reverse description The reverse carries a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in three horizontal registers within the round field, divided by ruled lines giving a cartouche-like appearance. The legend identifies the ruler as Sultan Abdülhamid Khan ibn Sultan Ahmed Khan, following the standard Ottoman honorific formula. The regnal year (AH 1187) and regnal year suffix appear in the lower register. The bold, deeply struck Thuluth-style calligraphy is characteristic of Kostantiniyye mint production of this period.
