Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate imperial tughra of Sultan Abdülhamid I, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with bold looping strokes rising prominently above the baseline elements. The tughra, serving as the royal monogram and symbol of sultanic authority, is struck in high relief against a flat, unadorned field. Below the tughra appear additional calligraphic elements completing the sultan's cipher. The coin is struck on a round flan by the hammered technique, resulting in a slightly irregular surface. A piercing hole is visible at the lower right of the obverse, indicating secondary use as a pendant or ornament.
