| 表面の説明 | The obverse depicts a detailed architectural rendering of the historic Bryggen wharf buildings in Bergen, rendered in fine relief across the central field. The characteristic medieval wooden facades with their distinctive pointed gabled rooftops and multi-storey timber-framed construction are faithfully represented. The legend KULTURBY BERGEN curves along the upper periphery, with the date 2000 arching along the right side of the coin, both in raised Latin lettering. |

Issued to mark Bergen's 930th anniversary, this commemorative daler revives a denomination that hadn't circulated in Norway since the late 18th century. The original bergendaler was a regional trade coin tied to Bergen's dominance as a Hanseatic port city — one of the few Norwegian towns with enough commercial weight to sustain its own recognizable monetary identity. Norges Bank produced this piece in a limited commemorative run, with no circulation mandate.
