| Obverse description | Central raised circular boss surrounded by flowing Arabic inscriptions arranged in a densely interlaced pattern filling the irregular flan. The central medallion contains a stylized floral or rosette device, around which cursive Arabic legends are distributed in the field in the characteristic Moroccan hammered style. The coin shows the irregular, slightly convex flan typical of hand-struck Sherifian gold coinage of the mid-nineteenth century. |
