| Opmerkingen |
Army Canteen Service beer vouchers from Victorian-era British military detachments occupy an odd corner of notaphily — technically scrip rather than currency, but traded between soldiers and occasionally hoarded by collectors who recognized their ephemerality early. The Victorian detachment system meant each garrison or field unit operated its own canteen account, making these vouchers hyper-local instruments with no redemption value outside their originating unit.
Survival rates are poor. Most were redeemed, pulped, or simply lost in the chaos of garrison life.
