| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the arms of Lucerne — a shield divided per fess displaying the distinctive Lucerne device — surmounted by a small imperial eagle displayed at the top of the coin. The armorial shield is set within a beaded inner circle. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery between the beaded circle and the outer rim, reading MONETA LUCERNENSIS or similar, with the word LVCERNENS visible at the base. The coin exhibits the irregular flan typical of hand-hammered silver coinage of the mid-to-late sixteenth century. |
