| Obverse description | The arms of Basel — a stylized crozier with a distinctive scrolled top and flared lower section — occupy the central field, flanked by the divided date 15-33 within a beaded inner circle. The civic emblem is rendered in bold relief characteristic of early sixteenth-century Swiss municipal coinage. A circular Latin legend encircles the design between the beaded inner circle and the outer rim. |
