Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a Spanish-style shield bearing the divided arms of Zürich — per pale, the dexter half diagonally halved in the city's traditional tinctures — is surmounted by a cross fleury extending to the border, its terminals visible at the cardinal points. The shield is rendered in relief with clearly defined partitions. A Latin legend runs continuously around the inner circle between two beaded borders, reading MON : NO TH VRICENSIS, abbreviating Moneta Nova Thuricensis ('New coin of Zürich'). The square klippe flan exhibits hand-cut corners with a plain raised rim and characteristic irregular surface texture.
