| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the ornate crowned arms of Lucerne — a vertically divided shield bearing the characteristic blue and white diagonal stripes of the canton — rendered in a decorative Renaissance cartouche style with elaborate scrollwork flourishes at the sides. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the date 1638 prominently displayed in the lower exergual area beneath the arms. The surrounding legend reads MON ✦ NO ✦ LVCERNENSIS, separated by quatrefoil stops, running clockwise along the outer margin between the beaded border and a toothed rim characteristic of hammered coinage. |
