Reverse description Saint Francis of Assisi kneeling to the left, arms outstretched, receiving the stigmata represented by rays of light descending from the upper left. The figure is rendered in the humble, devotional style characteristic of Counter-Reformation feudal coinage. A partial Latin legend reading MONETA • NO • (Nova) surrounds the design, identifying this as new coinage of Castiglione. The date 1590 appears in the exergue below the kneeling figure.
