Obverse description Draped bust of Pope Sixtus V facing left, wearing the papal tiara, with a prominent beard rendered in relief. The effigy is depicted in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of late sixteenth-century Italian minor coinage. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, partially visible due to the irregular flan. A beaded inner border frames the central design.

Reverse description Saint Francis of Assisi depicted kneeling to the left in his Franciscan habit, arms outstretched and receiving the stigmata, with rays of divine light emanating from the upper left field. The figure is rendered in a naive but expressive hammered style characteristic of provincial Italian coinage of the period. The date appears in the exergue, and a partial Latin legend surrounds the design within a beaded border.
