Reverse description The reverse displays a prominently cast tortoiseshell (carapace) pattern rendered as a network of raised polygonal scutes covering the oval field, directly referencing the turtle iconography of the Baijin Sanpin series. A rectangular countermark, bearing what appears to be a small seal-script Chinese character or official mark, is applied at the center of the carapace design. The scute pattern is rendered with regularity and clarity, symbolizing the turtle denomination of the three-denomination Baijin coinage system introduced by Emperor Wu of Han in 119 BC.
