Obverse description Central field occupied by a polygonal heraldic shield of Reggio, bearing a plain cross, rendered in relief with bold outlines characteristic of Renaissance hammered coinage. The shield is displayed in an upright position, its lower point extending toward the coin's base. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the device, interrupted by a cross pattée stop at the top. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat weak at the margins, as typical of small copper issues of the period.
