| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a polygonal heraldic shield of Reggio, bearing a plain cross, rendered in relief with bold outlines characteristic of Renaissance hammered coinage. The shield is displayed in an upright position, its lower point extending toward the coin's base. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the device, interrupted by a cross pattée stop at the top. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat weak at the margins, as typical of small copper issues of the period. |

| Reverse description | Half-length, forward-facing bust of Saint Prospero, patron saint of Reggio Emilia, vested in episcopal robes and wearing a mitre, with arms crossed or folded before the chest. The figure is rendered in a hieratic, frontal style consistent with late medieval and early Renaissance Italian civic coinage. Pellet stops punctuate the abbreviated Latin legend surrounding the saintly effigy. The beaded border, partially visible, frames the design, and the overall strike reflects the crude but expressive quality typical of small hammered copper issues of the Duchy. |
