Obverse description Central device of a radiant all-seeing eye in high relief, surrounded by rays emanating outward, with a scrolled ribbon banner below bearing the motto in the field. A beaded inner border separates the central design from the circular legend, with the year in the lower exergue. The engraver's signature B. WYON appears at the base of the inner border.

Reverse description Plain field enclosed by a large oak wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow, the entire surface engraved with the recipient dedication text. The inscription records the award to William Jones, who aided by others at the risk of their own lives rescued several individuals from death by fire at Messrs King and Witts Stores, Southampton, 17th November 1837.
