Obverse description A standing draped female figure in high relief, representing Flora or Horticulture, holds a bouquet of flowers in her raised right hand and a garland of grapes at her side. She is surrounded by four smaller allegorical figures, including putti and a female attendant, amid abundant floral and fruit motifs. The engraver's signature W. WYON A.R.A. appears at lower left and ROYAL MINT 1836 at lower right in the exergue area.

Reverse description The recessed field displays an engraved presentation inscription within a decorative cartouche, surrounded by a richly struck wreath of roses, oak leaves, and grape clusters. The circular legend around the border reads THE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY OF LONDON, and the central engraved text reads: To Mr. John Floud for Pine Apples. June 13th 1840.
