To the lower left, a sheaf of wheat and a pile of coins; to the lower right, a beehive with bees in flight. The maker's signature 'KIRKWOOD & SON' and 'EDINR.' appears at the lower field, with the Latin legend 'INDUSTRIA DITAT' in the exergue.

Reverse description A large laurel wreath tied at the base with a ribbon occupies the full field. Within the wreath, a multi-line inscription in relief capital letters fills the central field, with 'CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND' arcing along the upper interior of the wreath.
