Reverse description A laurel wreath encloses engraved text awarding the medal to Mr. W. Procter, Tinsmith of Forfar, for his stop cock and mode of reversing in his oscillating cylinder steam engine, No. 3334, described as the silver medal value three sovereigns, dated 1851. The surrounding legend reads ROYAL SCOTTISH SOCIETY OF ARTS along the periphery, with INSTIT. 1821 and INCORP. 1841 at the base.
