Obverse description The Royal Dublin Society coat of arms at centre, depicting a crowned shield bearing a castle above a seated female figure holding a spear and harp, flanked by two standing female allegorical supporters. The left supporter holds a serpent and wheat sheaf, the right a mirror and fan. A ribbon scroll in the lower field bears the motto legend in relief. The engraver's signature J. WOODHOUSE A.R.H.A. appears in the lower exergue, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
