The lower register features the Royal Arms of Scotland — a shield bearing the rampant lion, surmounted by a crown and flanked by thistle sprigs — with the motto NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT on a scroll around the shield. The maker's name KIRKWOOD & SON EDINBURGH appears along the left and right margins. |
