Obverse description The obverse is divided into two registers. The upper register depicts a curling scene in relief showing multiple players on a frozen pond beneath bare tree branches, with curling stones visible on the ice. The lower register features the Royal Arms of Scotland — a shield bearing the rampant lion, surmounted by a crown and flanked by thistle sprigs — with the motto NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT on a scroll around the shield. The maker's name KIRKWOOD & SON EDINBURGH appears along the left and right margins.
