Reverse description The plain field bears engraved inscriptions within an encircling wreath of hawthorn buds and branches. The recipient's institution name HAWTHORN HALL appears at the top, the recipient's name S. Charlton in ornate script at centre, and the award date JUNE 20TH 1867 at the base, all within decorative calligraphic flourishes.
