Obverse description A couchant lion in high relief occupies the lower portion of the field, facing left with its head turned toward the viewer. Above the lion, a large seal-script character (武, meaning 'martial') is displayed in relief within a rectangular panel set against a stippled background, flanked by two vertical dark bands.

Reverse description The reverse features Japanese characters arranged in two groups: a curved arc of characters reading from right to left along the upper and left periphery of the field, identifying the issuing institution, and three large seal-script characters arranged vertically in the center of the field. The Imperial Japanese year 2592 is inscribed in Arabic numerals along the lower exergue.
