| Obverse description | Three-quarter facing bust of Captain Robert Falcon Scott in naval uniform and peaked cap, framed by a laurel wreath in the lower field. The dates JANUARY 2. 1902 and MARCH 5. 1904 appear on either side of the bust within the field, with a circular legend around the border reading TO CAPTAIN ROBERT FALCON SCOTT RN CVO FRGS COMMANDER OF THE EXPEDITION.
